Like many professional gyms, Planet Fitness does not make cancelling your membership easy. However, it is possible to do it so long as you have some patience and are willing to jump through a few contractual hoops.

Method 1 of 3:

Understanding Your Planet Fitness Contract

Step 1 Find the contract you signed with Planet Fitness.

Find the contract you signed with Planet Fitness. Although you may have signed up with a "no contract" or "no sign-up fee" promotion, you still signed an agreement that designates how you can cancel and what situations may allow you to waive your cancellation fees. [1] X Research source

Community Q&A

How do I cancel a 1-year contract that I signed if it has been longer than that? Community Answer

If you had a 1-year contract and more than one year has passed, then your contract is no longer valid or in effect. You can opt out of their services as you are no longer bound to them.

If I committed to a year and that time has passed, then why am I still being charged? Community Answer

By committing to a year, you are agreeing that you will be a member and do payments for at least a year. After the year is completed, you are still a member and unless you make a positive action to put an end to the contract, the payments will continue to be requested. Since you are no longer under the year long obligation, you are free to cancel your membership at any time without an additional "buyout" fee. So march right in there and do so, explaining that your year is up and you have the law on your side if they try to convince you otherwise (of course, you should read the contract before doing this, in case there is some other arrangement you ended up agreeing to).
