Disabled parking placards and plates

Placards and license plates for persons with disabilities. Learn, if you qualify, how to apply and where to park. A parking placard or plate is ONLY valid when being used by the person with the disability or someone who is driving the person with the disability.

For a permanent disability, you have a choice of two blue placards or one blue placard and one set of license plates with the International Symbol of Access (ISA).

There are two types of placards:

1. Blue for permanent disability, which is free
2. Red for temporary disability, which cost $5

Placards

You need to:

Hang your blue or red placard for persons with disabilities from your rearview mirror when in a disabled parking spot. If you are missing the mirror, than lay the placard in the middle of your dashboard, making sure it is clearly visible for law enforcement to see and read.

Plates

• You may have one set of free plates for persons with permanent disabilities.
• If you have specialty plates, you have the option of displaying the International Symbol of Access (ISA) on your plates. Be aware if you do not have this symbol on your specialty disabled veteran plates, you may not park in disabled spots at federal buildings.
